Datenschutzerklärung — what Vamoto stores, and who else sees it.
Last updated 2026-09-03.
What stays on your device
Planned routes, imported GPX rides, saved places, your POI selection,
the device id, and the browser's session token all live in
localStorage under vamoto.*
keys. Clearing this site's data removes all of it.
What we store on the server, and only when you sign in
- The email address your OAuth provider (Google or GitHub) returns, and your provider id.
- Your handle and display name.
- The routes and ridden tracks you sync (their geometry is the route itself).
- Share links you create.
- Your active sessions (device name, platform, last seen).
- Your entitlement (trial end date).
Deleting your account (Account > Your data > Delete account) removes all of it, with no undo.
Live position
While you use "route via my phone", your phone posts
{lat, lon, accuracy_m, t_ms} to the relay so the
browser can draw where you are. It is relayed, not archived.
Third parties your browser talks to
- Komoot Photon (photon.komoot.io): every place search you type, plus the map centre, and a reverse lookup for each waypoint you drop.
- Overpass API (overpass-api.de): the map area you are viewing, when you turn on a POI layer.
- OpenStreetMap tiles (tile.openstreetmap.org): the map area you are viewing.
- GitHub (github.com): your handle, to fetch your avatar, only if you signed in with GitHub.
- Cloudflare: hosts this site and the sync API.
Explicitly: no analytics, no ad networks, no third-party fonts (the one web font is served from this site since 2026-09-03).
Your rights (DSGVO / GDPR Art. 15-21)
